WINEMAKER’S NOTES

Our 2017 Wildwood Cabernet is a single bottling from a single vineyard originally planted almost forty years ago. The vineyard was close planted and dry grown but had suffered through neglect until Swings & Roundabouts brought it back into production when established in 2004. It now serves as a reminder of the region’s beginnings.

TASTING NOTES

Colour: Deep red purple with a dark cherry core

Aroma: Lifted, fresh but complex. Layered with oak and classical Cabernet perfume of briar and spice.

Palate: Medium bodied, tightly wound with fine layers of oak overlaying dark Cabernet fruits. It is clearly varietal with finely polished, persistent tannins and savoury fruit sweetness to resolve the finish.

Food matching: Char grilled meats.

Cellaring: Five years and more to see the wine fully expressed.
